Hello, I’m André,

the Head of the Guitar Department in the Professional Program. Throughout the program, we will focus on developing your guitar technique, deepening your knowledge of scales, chords, comping, phrasing, and modern techniques. You’ll also expand your repertoire with diverse genres and styles, from Jazz to Pop, Funk, Rock, and Metal. Our experienced guitar teachers help you step out of your comfort zone and discover new ways to express yourself through music. We’ll also focus on developing your performance skills, stage presence, and tools to help you succeed in the music industry. André Mertens, passionate musician and music trainer. Started playing in bands and teaching guitar as a teenager. Highlights include winning the Robert Johnson Guitar Awards in Germany, workshops with renowned musicians, touring the USA and Canada with Uli Jon Roth, and performing at festivals like 70,000 Tons of Metal and Metaldays.

Touring with Cryptex

He Studied at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hanover. Perfected guitar skills and expanded knowledge of drums, bass, piano, vocals, studio production, and composition/songwriting. Toured Europe, played numerous gigs with his bands. Released three albums and signed a global record deal with SPV/Steamhammer as part of his rock band Cryptex. Teaching focus in the Professional Program: rock improvisation, sound, bending, and legato.
